Verden. On Tuesday, August 6th, the catwalk is well prepared and the best three year old mares from Hanover and the Rhineland. They will choose their champion mares at the Herwart von der Decken-Show. Around 75 three-year-olds are expected in Verden to give an impressive overview of the breeding. Traditionally this mare show is the prelude to “Verden International”. Not only will top-class sport be offered there in the show jumping and dressage arena, but the places in the Hanoverian contingent for the Bundeschampionate of riding horses will also be distributed. The Herwart von der Decken-Show will be broadcast live on the Internet from 9.30 a.m. onwards.
Free jumping under open sky has lost none of its fascination. The first mares with exquisite jumping pedigrees will start at 9.30 a.m.. From 1.15 p.m. the show ring belongs to the expressive moving dressage mares. On the impressive final ring, the class winners and runners-up will meet again to compete for the valuable winner’s sash in a direct comparison. Jörn Wedermann, member of the board of the Hannoveraner Verband, and breeding manager Ulrich Hahne will be joined by Danish horse expert Ib Kirk, stallion owner and owner of Katrinelund Stud.
Another highlight is the awarding of the Friedrich Jahncke-Prize. For the first time, this newly created award honours the mare family with the highest score in the previous show season. It honours the great commitment of the breeders, who present three mares in the family competitions at the local mare shows.
