Vejer de la Frontera (ESP), February 15, 2019 – Lisa Cubitt is unstoppable! This well known New Zealand rider was on the Kiwi team in the last Nation’s Cup Team in Rome and she started off her time here at the XXV Sunshine Tour, by winning the anniversary 1.45m class on Wednesday. Today she repeated her form, this time riding “Warrior’s Glory”. Lisa took the top spot by 0.52s beating the very successful Turkish rider Omer Karaevli, riding “Cheston De La Pomme D’Or Z”. Third place was taken by the Spanish rider Alberto Márquez Galobardes riding “Aldo de Manoir” in this demanding 1.40m class.
Pedro Veniss and the Spanish rider Cristina Toda also got through to the jump off but decided not to take part. Sadly Sally Hopkinson’s lovely horse“Fadograaf” retired in the jump off with an injury to a foreleg.
The two phase, 1.35m class was held in the Milton arena and was won by the 23yr old rider, Boy-Adrian Van Gelderen from Belgium. He rode Davis Z”, a horse that competed successfully here at Montenmedio in 2016 and has gone on to have many international successes. Lisa Cubitt was once again near the top of the podium in second place, this time riding her mare “Encore” and the British rider, Max Routledge took third place with “Caruso D’eres Z”.
The 1.30m Small Tour B, was won by the Lithuanian rider Juan Pablo Garriz on the 8yr old “Miami 19” beating a field of 38 horses. The well known British rider, Holly Smith took second place with the very consistent “Here I’m Be” and once again on the podium but this time in third, was Lisa Cubitt riding “Ballerine De Ravel”.
The Young Horse Classes were won by Dominique Joassin (BEL) riding “In Love” (5yr); Omer Karaevli (TUR) riding “Just Call me May” (6yr) and Leonie Aitkenhead (GBR) riding “Heart-Third” (7yr).
