La Baule (FRA), 9 March 2020 – The world stars of showjumping usually open their outdoor season in La Baule, where the kick-start of the «Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™» will be given.
The first confrontation of the n°1 Division for Europe, the Nations Cup of La Baule (CSIO5*) will have a unique flavor this year. This only French leg of the 7 European qualifiers before the world final will be, for the national coaches, an opportunity to review their best pairs with a view to the Tokyo Olympics.
10 Teams in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ series D1
This year, 10 teams of the D1, among the best in the world, will compete in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ series: Germany, Belgium (2nd in 2019), France, Great Britain, Ireland (winner of the series in 2019), Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden.
Each of the national teams selected 4 qualifiers and will try to clinch the precious points to reach the world final in Spain.
The teams in La Baule
Eight nations will be on the start-list in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of La Baule, held on Friday 15th May at 2pm. Germany, Belgium, Brazil, France, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Switzerland. Except for Brazil and Mexico, the other countries will try to score the first qualifying points for the world final in Barcelona (1st – 4th October)
The French qualifiers
Thierry Pomel, national coach, will bring a strong team to La Baule in order to grab the first points. In this quest, the French will compete in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Poland (Sopot, 11 – 14 June), Sweden (Falsterbo, 09 – 12 July), and Ireland (Dublin, 15 – 19 July).
To be noted, the CSIO5* of La Baule will also be a preparation step for the selection of the French team towards the Tokyo Olympics.
