Bologna, May 18 2022 – After two years of absence due to the global pandemic, the Morocco Royal Tour, is back in the international calendar. Starting in October 6th in Tetouan and til October 23rd in El Jadida via Rabat, Morocco will once again welcome the world of international show jumping.
The Morocco Royal Tour is highly appreciated by the best riders in the world. In only few editions, the tour has attracted many of the most reputable names in the horse-riding world: Pius Schwizer (former world number one and multiple medalists for Switzerland), Simon Delestre (vice-world champion), Philippe Rozier (olympic champion), Marco Kustcher (German European champion), Jérôme Guery (Belgian olympic rider), Abdelkebir Ouaddar (Moroccan Olympic rider) and many others. The interest showed to the tour by these famous horse riders reflects the sporting quality of the circuit.
The 2022 edition will take place from the 6th to the 23rd October for three consecutive weekends, and will feature thirteen events counting for La Longines Ranking List FEI.
The three 4* Grand Prix are also qualifying events for the Arab/North African League for the FEI Longines World Cup whose final will be played this season from 4 to 8 April 2023 in Omaha, in the United States, while Rabat will host a Nation’s Cup class. This event is one of the highlights of the Moroccan CSIO that will be held on Sunday afternoon. A CSI 1* will also take place in parallel on each of the three locations and is considered as a beautiful equestrian trip for amateurs.
A global prize money of 747,000€ is granted.
Tremendous challenges, a prestigious series firmly established on the international circuit with high quality infrastructure for each of the three stages, in beautiful cities with strong tourist appeal, all in a very friendly atmosphere: The Morocco Royal Tour is undoubtedly a great and unmissable international show jumping.
The national team riders are preparing for this great event under the directives of their trainer, Philippe Lejeune. They will be present at Bourg-en-Bresse and will participate to the World Championship that will take place in Herning.
About Morocco Royal Tour
- The circuit starts in Tetouan, from October 6 to 9 (€185,500 in prize money), in the superb facilities of the Royal Guard. A magnificent site with “great” facilities: majestic stands and superb stables decorated in the purest Moroccan tradition
- The Rabat stage, from October 13 to 16 (€267,000 in prize money), is held in the facilities of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian Sports Federation, technically flawless with night-time events including the 4* Grand Prix on Friday. The flagship event will be the Nations Cup, scheduled on Sunday afternoon
- The last stage of El Jadida, from October 20 to 23 (€240,500 in prize money), is run indoors and offers a sports program similar to that of Tetouan. It also allows you to discover the Moroccan Horse Exhibition (Salon du Cheval Marocian), certainly the most important on the continent. This stage will be consecrated by the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Show Jumping.
