Göteborg, February 2015 – The Longines FEI World Cup 2014-2015 is at the final stretch. This weekend the Göteborg Horse Show will be the very last opportunity for those who still need points. Last of twelve legs of the series, the Swedish event will decide who of the Western European League will fly to Las Vegas.
Some riders can already relax, being 100% qualified, but those standing between the 15th position and the 22nd are still at risk: among them there are Penelope Leprevost, Sergio Alvarez Moya, Luca Maria Moneta, Jur Vrieling, Jos Verlooy, Reed Kessler and Roger Yves-Bost.
Looking at the provisional ranking, nobody is in trouble within the top ten, lead with 71 points by the young Irish phenomenon Bertram Allen, twice winner, in Verona and Bordeaux, and second placed in Zurich. After him, the French Kevin Staut (63) and the American Lucy Davis (62) follow up to complete the first three positions.
Peaceful dreams also for the Swiss Steve Guerdat (4th with 57), the Dutch Harrie Smolders (5th with 56) the Australian Edwina Tops Alexander (6th with 64,) the Germans Marcus Ehning (7th with 53) and Daniel Deusser (8th with 50), the Dutch Maikel Van Der Vleuten (9th with 45), and the other two Germans, Marco Kutscher and Hans Dieter, both at 44 points, covering the 10th and 11th positions.
On Sunday the 1st March, the last word will be pronounced to define the rider list of the Western European League with a ticket to the final.
Same venue for dressage, the Scandinavium Arena will host this weekend the second to last leg of the Reem Acra FEI World Cup 2014-2015, before ‘s-Hertogenbosch, scheduled from the 12th to the 15th March.
