Hong Kong, February 2015 – Fifty-eight top horses landed in Hong Kong, after flying thirteen hours on the chartered Emirates Boeing 777F over ten thousand kilometres from Liège, Belgium. Now resting in the Asia World Expo stables, they are ready to compete along with their riders in the Far East leg of the Masters Grand Slam Indoor 2015.
The top show jumpers will try to succeed in the third edition of the Longines Hong Kong Masters CSI5*, scheduled from the 13th to the 15th February. To name a few, the number one in the world, Scott Brash, Ludger Beerbaum, Kevin Staut, Roger Yves-Bost, John and Michael Whitaker, Gerco Schröder and the 2014 winner Henrik von Eckermann will be there.
After Los Angeles and Paris last year, the Eastern city is now hosting glamour and top level sport, in front of fifty thousands expected spectators, Sunday’s Longines Grand Prix will play the leading role.
Six competitions for a all-out price money over 800 thousand euros, plus the extra bonus provided by the “tennis-borrowed” formula of the Grand Slam, (already exiting in show jumping with the one sponsored by Rolex): in addition to the 2.6 milion euros established on the three events (Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Paris), the Masters Grand Slam Indoor organizer, EEM World, offers more than one million euros to the potential winner of all three Grand Prix in a row.
The challenge is now open, and if nobody will be able to reach the Grand Slam 2015, a “consolation price” is fixed at 500 thousand euros for the rider able to win “only” two GP, otherwise 250 thousand euros will be given to who will achieve two victories but not in succession.
