Bordeaux, February 2015 – In 2014 the German Marcus Ehning aboard Cornado won here. All the big names of the international show jumping have written history in this arena: from John Whitaker and Milton, to Pierre Durand and Jappeloup and also Franke Sloothaak, Roger Yves-Bost, Michel Robert, Nick Skelton, Rodrigo Pessoa, just to name a few.
Bordeaux is now ready to host the second to last leg of the Longines FEI World Cup 2014-2015, staged in the French town since the 1978-1979 edition. This weekend the Jumping International de Bordeaux will also be the scenario of the Driving World Cup Final and of the performance of the “Cadre Noir de Saumur”.
From the 6th to the 8th February the best riders of the Western European League will be competing in the CSI5*-W, for the 410.000 euro price money and for the points still missing in order to qualify for the final, scheduled from 15th to 19th April in Las Vegas.
The provisional ranking keeps changing, and 40 points seem to be the minimum to be sure to be in the 18 riders flying to Nevada. At the top remains the Swiss Steve Guerdat, still dominating together with the French Kevin Staut with 57 points, both followed by the young Irish rider Bertram Allen with 51.
The Germans Daniel Deusser, Marco Kutscher and Hans-Dieter Dreher, the Dutch Harrie Smolders, the Australian Edwina Tops-Alexander, the American Lucy Davis, the Swedish Douglas Lindelöw and the Swiss Martin Fuchs can be considered safe.
Those who need to improve their score are surely feeling less confident. The Spanish Sergio Alvarez Moya is one of them, winner two weeks ago in Zurich with his Carlo 273, and now at the 18th position with 21 points, still dreaming of Nevada.
After Bordeaux, Göteborg will be the final step, from the 26th February to the 1st March. On the Swedish course all the boarding passes will be then definitely assigned. But for the moment don’t miss the rendez-vous with the World Cup Grand Prix in Bordeaux, Saturday night at 20.30.
