Aachen, May 2015 – World number one Scott Brash aboard his great partner Hello Sanctos won today the Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen, becoming the first rider ever to win two Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping’s GP in a row after Geneva last December. Therefore Brash will fly next September to Spruce Meadows in Calgary (Canada) hoping to be the only rider in history to win all three Rolex Grand Slam’s GPs. If so, he will be awarded one million euros! Today the competition had forty starters, eighteen qualified for the second round, seven in the jump-off. Brash won leaving behind the 2014 World Cup champion Daniel Deusser (GER) on Cornet d’Amour (three tenth of second slower); third came France’s Simon Delestre on Ryan des Hayettes, fourth Germany’s Ludger Beerbaum on Chiara, fifth USA’s Kent Farrington on Voyeur with one rail down, sixth the reigning Wolrd Cup champion Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED) on Zenith and seventh Germany’s André Thieme on Contanga. Talking about his victory, Scott Brash said: “I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet, it has been my dream to win Aachen, so to win is a dream come true, I am ecstatic. What makes Aachen so special is the crowd, to jump in front of 45,000 people that are also very knowledgeable, is great for us riders and brings out the best in us”. Having started his Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping winning ‘cycle’ in Geneva, Scott Brash now travels to the Spruce Meadows Masters, 9-13 September 2015, to compete for the sport’s ultimate challenge and the €1m bonus: “To win one leg is already hard enough, to win two is extremely difficult, to win three is going to be really hard, but it would be silly not to try so I will definitely try and win it”, he said.
