Bologna, February 2015 – Winning a Nations Cup is always a great joy for every rider in the world, but in front of the home crowd is even better. That’s why yesterday night in Wellington (Florida) the four US riders were really really smiling… They rode a faboulous first round with three clears and the fourth rider who didn’t had to ride at all; then they collected 8 faults in the second round and once again the fourth couple didn’t go in the ring as the job was already done: Todd Minikus on Babalou 0/0, Candice King on Kismet 0/4, Margie Engle on Royce 0/4, McLain Ward su Carlos Z withdrawn in both rounds. After coaching his team to victory, Robert Ridland proudly spoke of their success. “We have always said that winning our own Nations Cup is one of our biggest priorities”, Ridland said. “We won it two years ago, and we won it again tonight. We had a good performance two weeks ago and won the points in the league, but this is where we have had a Nations Cup with longstanding tradition and great crowds. What was really gratifying was to do these relatively back-to-back Nations Cups with eight different riders and eight different horses. We saw the depth of our team out there, and that is what we are trying to go for in the future. I could not be happier”. With a total of 8 faults the winning team left behind Canada (12), Ireland (16), Venezuela (20), Mexico (28), France (30), and then Brazil, Columbia and Argentinia not in the second round.
