Peking, August 2016 – The top two in the Longines ranking list, Christian Ahlmann, Simon Delestre and the reigning World and European Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam are just some of the top names competing this week in the 6th Longines Equestrian Beijing Masters.
An exquisite field of participants is taking part from Thursday onwards in the Chinese “Bird’s Nest”, the Olympic Stadium in Peking which will be hosting the CSI5*.
“It is this special concept that makes the show so unique – said the co-organiser Frank Kemperman – One can only develop at a high level if one can take on the challenge from the best in the world”. This is the reason why many local athletes can now try their best on the same arena along with the top riders in the world who will also take the role of trainers supporting their Chinese colleagues.
The highlight is the Longines Grand Prix scheduled on Sunday, but on Friday evening the Asians will be competing together with the Europeans (on borrowed horses, due to the quarantine regulations in China).
Organisers’ focus, supported by the show-jumper Ludger Beerbaum, is even more on the development of the equestrian sport in China thanks to events like the “Longines Equestrian Beijing Masters”.
