Rome, September 2016 – For the second year in a row the Eternal City is ready to host the Italian legs of the Longines Global Champions Tour and, for the first time, of the Global Champions League.
Staged at the impressive Stadio dei Marmi, from 9th to 11th September, the stadium, ringed by 59 classical statues depicting different sports, is one of the arenas in the Foro Italico sports area, home to the Italian Olympic Committee.
Top riders already arrived in Rome, with the Australian Edwina Tops-Alexander leading the provisional ranking, 25 point ahead from the 2015 Rome GP’s winner, the Swedish Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, back again too with Casall Ask.
Together with them other big names won’t be missing as Ludger Beerbaum, Simon Delestre, Marcus Ehning, Marco Kutscher, Bertram Allen, Harrie Smolders, Maikel van der Vleuten, Luciana Diniz, Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani, Abdullah Al Sharbatly, Pius Schwizer, Ben Maher, John Whitaker, Lauren Hough and many others.
Six Italian riders will try their best in front of home crowd: Emilio Bicocchi, Piergiorgio Bucci, Massimiliano Ferrario, Juan Carlos Garcia, Emanuele Gaudiano, Gianni Govoni and Alberto Zorzi.
